Medically-supervised weight loss

A clinically-supervised programme using prescription-only GLP-1 medications — for people for whom diet and exercise alone have not been enough.

GLP-1 weight-loss medication pen on a clinical surface

What it is

GLP-1 receptor agonists (Mounjaro, Wegovy, Saxenda) are prescription-only medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that have shown significant weight-loss benefits in clinical trials. They reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying and improve the body's response to insulin.

Our programme is a structured clinical service. You meet a UK-registered prescriber, complete a thorough medical consultation, have your BMI, blood pressure and history reviewed, and — if eligible — receive your prescription, supplied by our partnered GPhC-registered pharmacies. Monthly reviews follow to monitor progress, manage side effects and adjust dose where appropriate.

What it treats

  • Adults with a BMI ≥ 30
  • Adults with a BMI ≥ 27 who also have a weight-related health condition (type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, sleep apnoea)
  • Plateaus where established diet and lifestyle changes have not produced sustained loss

How it works

  1. 1 Initial consultation — face-to-face or online — with a UK-registered prescriber. We review your medical history, current medications, weight history, lifestyle, and goals.
  2. 2 BMI, blood pressure and (where indicated) blood work are reviewed.
  3. 3 If eligible, a prescription is issued and the medication is dispensed by our partnered GPhC-registered pharmacy.
  4. 4 Monthly review appointments: progress, side effects, dose titration, and onward planning.
  5. 5 Lifestyle support — we are explicit that medication alone is not the answer. Diet, movement and sleep all matter.

What to expect

Appointment time

Initial consultation: 30–45 minutes. Monthly reviews: 15–20 minutes.

Downtime

None medically. The first few weeks on any GLP-1 commonly bring nausea, reduced appetite, and changes in bowel habits as your body adjusts.

How it feels

The injection itself is a small subcutaneous needle once a week (Mounjaro, Wegovy) or once a day (Saxenda). Most clients learn to do it themselves at home.

Aftercare

Eat smaller, more nutrient-dense meals. Hydrate well. Avoid very fatty or very heavy foods, particularly in the days after each injection. Tell us about any persistent side effects so we can adjust.

Results visible

Initial reduction in appetite within 1–2 weeks; meaningful weight loss from month 2

How long they last

For most clients, an ongoing monthly programme. Eligible clients may step down gradually under supervision.

A good fit if

  • You meet the BMI criteria for prescription
  • You have tried diet and lifestyle changes that haven't produced sustained results

  • You have a history of pancreatitis or significant gallbladder disease
  • You're under 18
  • Your BMI is below the relevant threshold (we will tell you honestly)

FAQs

Is this a quick fix?

No. GLP-1 medications change how your body responds to food and hunger, which is powerful — but the foundation is still diet and lifestyle. Clients who treat the medication as a complete solution and don't change anything else are the ones who regain weight when they stop.

Which medication is right for me?

We discuss this in your consultation based on your medical history, weight goals, response history (if any), and budget. Mounjaro currently has the strongest weight-loss data; Wegovy is well-established; Saxenda is daily and may suit some clients better. The right answer depends on you.

What about side effects?

Nausea, reduced appetite, constipation or loose stools, fatigue, and occasionally heartburn are common in the first few weeks. Most settle as the body adjusts. We titrate the dose carefully and adjust if side effects are not manageable.

What happens when I stop?

Appetite typically returns to baseline within weeks. Without lifestyle changes alongside the medication, weight regain is common. We focus our reviews on the lifestyle side specifically so you have something durable to lean on.

How long can I stay on it?

There is no fixed cap. Many clients stay on a maintenance dose for a year or more. We review every month and step the dose down where appropriate.

Who prescribes it?

UK-registered independent prescribers who are part of our clinical team. The medications are dispensed by GPhC-registered pharmacies we partner with.
