Saxenda (liraglutide)
A once-daily prescription injection. Lower-key dose schedule than the weekly options.
What it is
Saxenda is the brand name for liraglutide, a once-daily prescription injection. It was the first GLP-1 medication licensed for weight management in the UK and has the longest real-world track record in this class.
Saxenda is taken every day, which suits clients who prefer a daily routine to a weekly one. Trial data shows around 5–10% weight loss at 56 weeks, which is more modest than Mounjaro or Wegovy but still clinically meaningful.

FAQs
Why daily instead of weekly?
Saxenda is a shorter-acting molecule. Some clients prefer the daily ritual; others find the weekly options easier to maintain. There's no clinical right answer — it depends on you.
Is Saxenda less effective?
On average, results are more modest than the weekly options — around 5–10% of body weight at 56 weeks. For some clients that is exactly the right amount; for others, the stronger options are a better fit.
Why does it have the longest track record?
Saxenda was the first GLP-1 licensed for weight management in the UK. Liraglutide as a molecule has been used in diabetes care for longer than the newer once-weekly options.
