Lip filler
A subtle, beautifully-shaped result that's still recognisably your mouth.
What it is
Lip filler is hyaluronic-acid gel placed precisely along the border, body and corners of the lip to restore volume, refine shape and balance asymmetry. Done well, it shouldn't read as filler at all — it should look like a particularly good day.
We start small. The single most important thing about lip filler is restraint: half a millilitre often does more than people expect, and you can always add at the two-week review.
What it treats
- A lip border that has lost its definition
- An upper lip shorter than the lower
- Asymmetry between left and right sides
- Corners that turn downward
- Vertical 'lipstick lines' above the upper lip
- Smoker's lines, even if you've never smoked
- Naturally thin lips, gently augmented
How it works
- 1 We mark the lips with a wax pencil while you watch — agreement on shape happens before a needle comes near you.
- 2 Numbing cream applied for 15–20 minutes. The product itself contains lidocaine for comfort during.
- 3 Injections placed using a fine needle or, for the border, sometimes a blunt cannula. We work in tiny increments and step back often.
- 4 You see the result in the mirror at every stage.
- 5 A complimentary two-week review for top-ups if the result calls for it.
What to expect
Appointment time
45 minutes including numbing
Downtime
24–48 hours of swelling, sometimes a small bruise. Most clients are presentable for an evening event the next day; back to full normal in 3–4 days.
How it feels
Pressure more than pain. Lips are sensitive but the lidocaine in the product means most clients say it was easier than they feared.
Aftercare
No make-up over the lip for 12 hours. Drink with a straw for 24 hours to keep the shape stable. Avoid alcohol, hot drinks and very salty food for the rest of the day.
Results visible
Immediate volume; final shape at two weeks once swelling settles
How long they last
9–12 months on average
Is this right for you?
A good fit if
- You'd like a subtle, shaped improvement rather than a single dramatic transformation
- You're prepared to start small and build up at review
- You're realistic about how the lips will sit at the two-week mark, not at the 24-hour mark
Not the right time if
- You have an active cold sore or recent history of frequent cold sores (we can pre-treat with antivirals if needed)
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding
- You're set on a look that doesn't suit your face. We'll have an honest conversation about this.

FAQs
How much do I need for my first time?
Usually half to one millilitre. We'd rather see you back in two weeks for a top-up than overdo it on day one.
Will it look fake immediately?
They will look full for 24–48 hours from swelling, not from product. The shape you walk out with on day 14 is the shape we agreed.
What about migration?
Filler migration usually comes from too much product, too close to the surface, over multiple sessions. We place product in the right plane and at the right volume. If you have migration from previous work, we dissolve and reset.
Russian lip versus standard technique?
Russian places the product more vertically to lift the lip rather than push it forward. It suits some lip shapes beautifully and others not at all. We discuss in consultation.
What if I don't like it?
HA filler is dissolvable. We will always have an honest conversation first — sometimes the answer is to wait two weeks for swelling to settle. If it still isn't right, we dissolve and start fresh.
